would like to convey my warm congratulations on the inauguration of the
24th edition of the Seoul Art Fair.
The
Seoul Art Fair has contributed to the steady rise in the Korean art market
since 1979, the inaugural year of
the event.
In
the 21st century, an information-driven year when culture is considered
a fountain of national competitiveness, the
Seoul Art Fair has contributed for over the past 20 years to the elevation
of Korean art.
In
cultural globalization each nation promotes the growth of their domestic
art. In addition, it is a world wide tendency
that nongovernmental sectors host a variety of art events to support that
growth.
In
order to keep up with the current of the times, the Seoul Art Fair should
establish a comprehensive strategy which
encourages Korean art to realize its potential and lead it to attain an
international edge.
In
closing, I would like to extend my gratitude to Hyun Sook Lee, Chairman
of Galleries Association of Korea,
all the member
galleries, and the exhibiting artists at the fair.
